2/6/2020 meeting overview:
We met at RI State House for this meeting. There were hearings for 4 important environmental bills, including a statewide plastic bag ban!
BAGS:
-Continue to restock 9 Providence Libraries with bags (as needed)
-Next "Sew-In" scheduled for Saturday, Feb 22nd from 10am-4pm at the Renaissance Church, 184 Broad Street, Providence RI. Please RSVP via Facebook
-Keep an eye out for any upcoming news on the state-wide plastic bag ban
Subcommittee Updates:
RESIDENTIAL COMPOSTING & RESTAURANT COMPOSTING GROUP (next ZWP Composting Sub Group meeting is Feb 19 from 5-7pm at Urban Greens):
-Continuing to work on residential composting pilot;
-"100 by 2020" goal continues. Please ask your favorite restaurants if they compost. If they already do, let ZWP know so we can add them to our growing list!
-ZWP compostable sticker for composting restaurants are now on display at composting restaurants!
OUTREACH/COMMUNICATIONS GROUP (next ZWP Outreach Sub Group meeting is Feb 13 from 6:30-7:30pm at Urban Greens):
-Posting upcoming events and 100 by 2020 restaurant highlights
-Communicating upcoming ZWP events and planning
EVENTS GROUP:
-This is a new sub group - please contact us if you are interested in leading this group!
LEGISLATIVE GROUP:
-Planning and prepping for Styrofoam Ban campaign (ask about how you can be involved)!
